Ice drift through Kashagan area

High resolution optical image from Landsat-8 allowed to observe ice condition in Kashagan area during westerly ice drift in December 2018.

By beginning of December ice has not yet stabilised in Kashagan area. Easterly winds have pushed mobile ice floes through Kashagan area with multiple artificial obstacles. Acting as anchoring points installations have captured most of ice floes and created large ridge and rafted fields on the eastern side of islands while western part remained in open water conditions.
